** Always carry lip-balm wherever you go. Keep a lip balm handy so that you don't have the urge to lick your lips.
* Check the ingredients. If you can't pronounce more than three, don't buy it. Lip balms should be natural.
* Shop around and try different types. You have a whole world of opportunity from Blistex, Soft Lips, and Burt's Bees to Clinique, MAC, Carmex and Murad.
** Exfoilate the dead, dry skin on your lips every night by gently brushing them with a tooth brush and a dab of Vaseline. (Not the same toothbrush as you use to brush your teeth)
* Your lips should not feel sore afterwards. This should be a fun beauty ritual, not torture
** Apply a lip balm at bedtime.
** Wear lip products that have a SPF 15 or higher.
** Margerine also works, apply a small amount to lips, leave on for about 1 min. and wipe off with a soft tissue. Do not lick it off! This will make your lips drier! Repeat if desired.

Try not to lick your lips as the saliva will make them dry
Don't use cheap balms with flavors because the will make your lip dry and you might be tempted to lick it off.
Throw out lip balms that you've had for one year or longer. They can store bacteria.
How can I make my lips soft?
you have to put straight up lotion on them when you sleep. then in the morning wash it off and then put on some chap stick. your lips may also not be chapped. they may be sunburned. sunburned lips feel like they are chapped but the color of your lips does not change. that is probably why that the things are using are not working because usually they do work. hope that helped and good luck, try some chap stick with sunblock in it maybe also :)
Exfoliate them! Trust me, it works very well. Also, use chapstick and drink plenty of water. Most people don't realize that chapped lips are a sign of dehydration.
Try using Carmex Lip Balm 4-6 times a day after a week your lips should be softer.
medicated chapstick works very nicely.
exfoliate the dead skin off of your lips with a mild scrub. nothing special. after, apply Bert's Beeswax Lip Balm. It works miracles. I hope this helps.
